Slow Poke
Farm
Attention all Artists, Photographers, Songwriters, Poets:
If you want a place to get inspiration, scenes to steal your heart and spur on your creativity, read on:
Did you know at Slow Poke Farm we make our farm scenes available to artists and photographers. You can come out and do sketches, paintings and take photographs. (The hollyhocks are georgeous right now!)
Some of the different areas available are:
The Hen House area with its hens and Gertie, the goat, is always a lively
place. It features an antique manure spreader as its yard ornament.
There are several other farm buildings as
well:
The Smokehouse with daylilies surrounding it; The Quilt Shed (both of these are
now antique shops) featuring hollyhocks everywhere. The Old Tobacco
Stripping Room, The Original Corn Crib and the Original Tobacco Barn are also
wonderful places to paint or photograph.
The beef cattle with calves grazing in the pasture with the forest beyond... the family graveyard, corn fields, our pond with a deck (very comfortable place to work on your art). Don't forget the family home (it has been in our family for four generations).
As you can tell we are very proud of our farm. Anywhere your eye comes to rest is a place of pure inspiration, worthy of a painting, photograph, song or poem.
Remember, each new season brings new views. Call us at the farm (502-921-9632) and schedule a time to come visit. The fee is only $5.00 per individual. If you would like to bring a group we can plan on providing a lunch.
